Active Compounds:
- Bitter glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, prunasin.
Properties:
- Purgative, astringent, diaphoretic, laxative, disinfectant, diuretic.
Traditional Uses:
- Mild laxative effect. Hydrocyanic acid by-product may improve breathing, digestion, and induce a sense of well-being. Helps with minor gallbladder issues, skin complaints, catarrh, stone formations, and stomach cramps. Used in gin making.
Directions for Use:
- Infusion: Steep 1-2 teaspoons of berries in 1 cup of boiling water for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink 2-3 times per day.
